I tried to get the HD audio manager panel up like some had suggested because I could see a tick box for the pop up asking 'which device did you plug in' but I couldn't find out how to open the panel. You can't differentiate between speakers and headphones with the Realtek software. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get sound through my headphones and tried every possible solution without success.
